Position Summary: 

We are seeking a forward-thinking Data Architect to design, develop, and implement innovative data solutions that empower our clients and our company toward their goals. As a key contributor and leader in our data team, you’ll create cutting-edge data pipelines, ETL processes, and integration solutions while ensuring the performance and security of our database environments. Responsibilities

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Mentorship – Guide and mentor members of our data teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Modern Data Architecture – Architect and implement scalable data pipelines, cloud-based data systems, and advanced ETL workflows.
  • Database Administration – Manage SQL Server and other databases in multi-tier environments, including backups, versioning, performance optimization, and security.
  • Integration Solutions – Develop APIs and integration routines to connect databases with internal tools and external systems, ensuring seamless data accessibility.
  • Agile Collaboration – Partner with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to design and deliver solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Quality Assurance – Conduct testing, debugging, and code reviews to maintain the highest standards of data accuracy and reliability.
  • Innovation & Optimization – Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, proposing and implementing enhancements to existing processes and systems.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in SQL Server and familiarity with other RDBMS technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or NoSQL solutions like MongoDB).
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and tools like Databricks or Snowflake is a plu
  • Expertise in data modeling, ETL tools, and data pipeline development using Python or other equivalent toolsets.
  • Understanding of modern data architecture concepts like data lakes, streaming data, and data warehouses.
  • Experience in API development, RESTful services, and integration.
  • Familiarity with spatial technologies, tools and associated data structures (e.g., Esri’s ArcGIS Suite, ArcGIS Enterprise, multi-user versioned geodatabases, and linear referencing systems).
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio Team Foundation Studio
  • Expert in database management tools and techniques
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new patterns for database integration
  • Highly developed creative thinking skills to propose solutions to business challenges
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and prioritize work items within each project
  • Experience with other programming languages such as Visual C#, Visual C++, Javascript etc
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to document complex and technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to clearly convey abstract or complex database solutions to clients and other staff
  • Must be flexible with the ability to quickly learn new technologies, platforms, and conceptsandapplythemtoclientsolutions
  • Ability to create technology solutions from business requirements
  • Adaptability to understand and implement new tools for new situations
  • Ability to collaborate and work with a diverse team spread over multiple office locations
  • Ability to communicate system functions and requirements with technical and non- technical teammates and clients

Experience:

10+ years’ experience in data engineering, database management, and/or spatial technologies is required. Experience in relational and/or non-relational database systems, with experience in data integration, ETL workflows, and cloud platforms, is highly valued. Familiarity with geospatial data, spatial analysis, and tools like Esri ArcGIS or Bentley software is a strong plus. Experience with MS Office Suite and strong documentation skills are also essential.

 

Education:

Bachelor's Degree required with a focus in Management of Information Systems, Computer Science, GIS, or other data related areas preferred.

 

Travel:

Must be able to travel in-state and out-of-state on occasion, which usually would consist of visiting other office locations, attending seminars or business meetings. Minimum travel is 10- 25% of the time depending on projects.
