Position Summary:

This position will focus on several aspects of Human Resources including but not limited to:  recruiting, programs that support the employee experience, employee relations and various daily operations and HR functions.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

In conjunction with the HR Recruiting Partner:

  • Assist with recruiting: 
    • meet with Team Leaders to understand hiring needs
  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers to understand hiring needs, position specifications, and parameters of search.
    • post open positions; refresh current job openings
    • identify candidates using a variety of sources
  • Identify, develop and maintain cost effective sourcing tools and strategies for current and future talent needs.
  • Build and maintain a diverse slate of candidates, using social media, networking, educational institutions, community resources, professional associations, and external staffing agencies.
    • conduct initial phone screen
    • schedule interviews, conduct interview debriefs with hiring team
    • conduct reference checks
    • assist with preparing offer letters
  • Coordinate drug screen with the Safety Manager and background check with the HR Data & Technology Partner
  • Attend career fairs and participate in other outside recruiting opportunities
  • Recommend and develop training tools (if needed) to enhance Team Leader’s effectiveness in staff selection.
  • Understand and apply employment laws related to recruiting and hiring.

 

Support the Employee Experience:

  • Oversee the new hire mentor (Guru) program.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a program for remote employee-owners centered on connecting, networking and engaging with one another and employee owners throughout the company.
  • In collaboration with the Learning & Development Manager, conduct new hire check ins.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze data and make recommendations to HR Leader based on data.

 

HR operations and functions:

  • Assist with employee relations including performance coaching and corrective action.
  • Responsible for authoring and keeping job descriptions up to date.
    • Including identifying exemption status of the position
  • Respond to unemployment claims
  • Responsible for having a general understanding of all employee benefits.
    • Answer questions from employee owners or refer to appropriate HR Partner if additional assistance is needed
  • Act as an additional backup for misc. functions related to timesheets and new hire tasks.
  • Take initiative for other responsibilities or projects that will benefit the team and organization.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective internal working relationships between the other members of the HR team, employee-owners and management. 
  • Oversee and manage the company's performance coaching process and system

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interact with employee owners at all levels within the company
  • Interpersonal sensitivity
  • General understanding of HR principles, practices, standards and legal regulations/employment law
  • Effective problem identification, analysis and resolution skills
  • Developed organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
  • Possess unquestioned integrity, ethics, and the values appropriate for the company’s culture
  • Effective listening, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team successfully

Experience:

1 - 3 years’ experience in Human Resources with an emphasis on recruiting, employee relations/generalist activities.

 

Education:

College degree in HR, business or equivalent of education and related experience strongly preferred.

 

Travel Expectations:

Must be able to travel in-state and out-of-state on occasion, which usually would consist of visiting the outlying locations, attending career fairs, colleges, or other recruiting venues.  Minimum travel is 10-20% of the time.
