POSITION SUMMARY:        

Position is not full time but will be engaged when project workload demands and will be responsible for securing easements for various water resources projects. Position will meet with landowners to secure easements and must hold a Notary Commission in the State of South Dakota, or have the ability to obtain immediately upon hiring. Could also perform tax record review, courthouse records research and preparation of easement documents at times.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with, and takes direction from, a ROW Coordinator.
  • Holds face-to-face meetings with landowners to secure easements and any other necessary documents.
  • May contact landowners via telephone, email or direct mail to explain project and set-up meetings to review and sign documents.
  • May conduct tax record reviews and courthouse records research to determine land ownership.
  • May perform data entry of Right-of-Way research/information into proprietary database software.
  • As this is a position with an on-demand schedule, working hours may vary but are anticipated to be between 0 and 10 hours per week.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn other software programs as needed (Vision, Adobe Pro, ArcGIS, Google Earth, LandInsight, etc.).

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

 

Experience:

0-4 years property interest acquisition experience. General understanding of MS Word, Excel and Outlook required. Experience using ArcGIS, Google Earth, Geocortex and Adobe Pro preferred.    

 

Travel Expectations:

Right-of-Way Technician travels in personal vehicle to landowners’ homes, courthouses, or other designated meeting locations as requested with expenses paid. Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.
